Who Can Apply for an eVisa?
Citizens of more than 70 countries are eligible to apply for an Egypt tourist eVisa online. This includes:
- European Nations: All 27 European Union member states, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Norway.
- The Americas: United States, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico.
- Asia & Pacific: Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia.
- GCC Residents: Certain GCC residents with valid residency permits may qualify for streamlined entry.
Who Needs an Embassy/Consular Visa?
Nationalities not included on the eligible eVisa or Visa-on-Arrival schedules must apply directly for a traditional tourist visa through an Egyptian Embassy or Consulate prior to departure.
Special Rules for Sinai Resorts
Citizens from eligible countries arriving directly at Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, or Taba airports can receive a free 15-day 'Sinai Only' stamp. However, if you plan to travel outside the Sinai peninsula (e.g., to Cairo or Luxor), an eVisa or standard tourist visa is strictly required.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I travel to Cairo on a Sinai-only stamp?
No. The Sinai exemption stamp only covers specific Red Sea resort areas. Traveling west across the Gulf of Suez to Cairo or Alexandria requires a full Egypt eVisa or tourist visa.
Does my dual nationality affect eligibility?
You must apply using the passport of an eligible country and present that exact same passport upon arrival in Egypt.
